For this month we saved the servers, but its not going to hold for long.

Josh, the boy from UK who usually pay for the root server in germany, is currently in Africa, helping local population together with his girlfriend. Once her stage is over, they plan to go to India to learn to know other poor people. Hope they will be fine and hope thay can help the people they meet.

Anyway, the absence of Josh will have some consequences on our servers. The cost of the root in Germany is 108 € / month. It is a quad-core AMD PhenomII X4 940 with 8gb ram and a game-server flat 100mbit internet connection. We are actually running 7 gameservers, with a total of 123 game-slots on this box.)

Beside of that, we have the 3 gameservers in Prag, by fakaheda.eu (ZM 1, Gather 1, CSS Alfa), with annual cost of 400 euro (40 slots).

 

As it seems that Josh will not be back for another few months and I really have no idea what he plans to do once he is back, we have to go forth on our own.

It means, we can not continue to maintain all theese servers without your help. The complexive annual costs of all our servers (and web related costs) ammount to 1700-1750 euro.

Since January we were able to collect 357 euro (+ 2 donations which have covered the servers in Prag for 6 months). With that monay we actually paid the servers in Prag for the actual year, a minor part of costs of the root box in germany and the web-related costs. What remained, I have sent to pay the root box in germany for this month (most of you know, that Josh was already in Africa and we had to act as fast as possible... ).

 

Now the new deadline is 8 october 2009, when the root box in germany goes off, if there will not happen a miracle.

The question is, what are we going to do after that date? I really dont think that we can find another sponsor, another guy with a great heart like Josh. And after experience of the past days, when I continuously asked help on the servers, I dont believe, that the 2000 players we have every day are willing to spend a 1 single euro / year in order to help us to provide them the gameservers they like to play on.

This means, the servers will go off. One possible sollution could be to maintain one TF2 server. For now I have no idea what would it costs, but I already know that it will be impossible without a real help of players playing there.

If the players (teams) on CSS Gather servers does like the service, they should think very fast about helping us, too. Without their fast contribute, the gather servers will go off as we have not the possibility to coninue to pay them without their own participation.

 

Now it depends all on you and your preferences. In every donation you do, you may express your preference (a game you like) and your money will be used to save that game server, if it will be possible.

If you have no credit card, and can not donate, you may know someone who has a credit card and may do the donation for you (you may give him the money he spent). I know that it may not be easy, but the situation actually isnt easy at all and I dont know any oher solution of it, than one of both: your help or death of the servers.
